Odawa Casino Resort, owned and operated by the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians, captures the rich Northern Michigan heritage through their uniquely custom signage program. Copper colored curved faced interior signs, with their Chemetal Autumn Leaf pattern and LED illumination provides a warm and inviting feel to the gaming area. The exterior signs carry the curved theme with their sign shapes as it relates to the curved architecture of the building. An EFIS coating on the main identification signs provides another tie between the signs and the building in matching finishes. Two miles from the casino and linked via fiber optic cable is their Electronic Message Center sign along US31 in Petoskey.

Valley City Sign took the architect’s concept designs for the signs and developed a workable solution. The biggest challenge with this project was the extremely short timeframe. The process of engineering, design, estimating and final approval, along with manufacturing and installation of the large and custom sign project was completed successfully in less than four months. The architect’s initial designs were released in mid-March of 2007 and by the end of June, 2007 the signs were completely installed and ready for the casino’s Grand Opening in July, 2007.

The scope of the project included a new pylon sign with an electronic message center unit, two large illuminated entrance signs to the casino, one “lighthouse” monument, 22 copper faced interior wall signs, four custom oval ceiling mounted signs, three large clearance portal signs to the parking lot, 31 curved directional signs, and dozens of regulatory signs and miscellaneous signage.
