With the buyout of Ameribank and Old Kent Bank, Fifth Third Bank
has been Valley City Sign's greatest challenge in it's more than
fifty years in the sign business.
The Old Kent Bank conversion alone involved changing signs at
476 locations across 3 states in nine months. Producing the large
quantity of signs in such a short timeline was not the only challenge
to face, however. There were many engineering challenges as well.

A special baffling system was engineered
to produce the custom illuminated halo effect around the logo in
their main identification signs.
A brand new double-sided window vinyl
was developed to show the bank's hours on one side and a thank you
message on the opposite side.

An entire new extrusion system was
also developed for Fifth Third Bank's regulatory signs. This new
extrusion was engineered to keep all the components of the post
and panel sign separate so that if any part got damaged, only the
damaged portion would need to be replaced instead of the entire
sign.
