The merger of two Grand Rapids based healthcare facilities,
Butterworth and Blodgett, into Spectrum Health was the basis for this large signage
project. A New York design firm developed the designs for the new signs, and placed
strict guidelines on the use of the health care system's corporate identity. While
the guidelines worked well on printed materials, some created problems when adapted
to signage.

We increased the font stroke for better readability
and tested special vinyl combinations until we obtained the exact colors that
were specified.
The extensive project involved refacing old signs in
addition to producing new ones. Sign types ranged from main identification markers
to regulatory signs.

Standard extrusion was used for all new signage and
gloss clear coat was applied to all painted surfaces. To aid in
installation, we performed site surveys of each location and provided
the client with "before" and "after" photos of each sign location.
