Sign Assembler
Valley City Sign seeks to hire a full-time Sign Assembler to join our manufacturing team. The Sign Assembler works in the final steps to our manufacturing process, assembling finished parts to complete signs. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. WHAT DO WE DO?
As a premier west Michigan-based sign company, we build all types of signs! We use aluminum, steel, plastics, paints, and all substrates to create our products. Our customers include banks, car washes, municipalities, large corporations, hospitals, schools and universities, casinos, sports teams, and many local businesses.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Note: Other duties may be assigned as needed

Read and understand drawings
-
Assemble finished parts to finished signs
-
Cut and install face materials to retainer systems
-
Install lamps
-
Check and inspect letters and mounting patterns
-
Actively record, store, and report inventory usage
-
Operate overhead crane, hi lo, stud welder, sheer, panel saw, bench grinder, drill press, and assorted hand tools
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
-
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
or 3-5 years related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
-
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
-
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
-
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or other employees
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
-
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
-
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
-
Accurately read a tape measure
REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
CERTIFICATES:

Operating certificates for any heavy equipment or internal demonstrated experience
