WHAT DO WE DO?
As a premier west Michigan-based sign company, we build all types of Signs! We use aluminum, steel, plastics, paints, and all substrates to create our products. Our customers include banks, car washes, municipalities, large corporations, hospitals, schools and universities, casinos, sports teams, and many local businesses. 
 

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

​As a Detail Specification and Layout Designer at Valley City Sign, you will play a critical role in shaping the visual impact of our projects. Your expertise in design principles and software proficiency will help bring our clients' visions to life with precision and creativity. You'll be working closely with our design and production teams to create drafts, layouts, detailed and scaled construction specifications for a wide range of signage and branded visual projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: ​

• 2D Design: Utilize your design skills to create high-quality layouts and detailed construction specifications for sign production, ensuring that they reflect the client's vision while adhering to design principles such as balance, proximity, alignment, repetition, contract and white space.

• Brand Application: Understand key customer's brand specifications and sign programs to create professional designs accordingly.

• Collaboration: Work as part of a dynamic, team-oriented environment, collaborating with other designers, project managers and production staff to meet deadlines and exceed expectations.

• Software Proficiency: Utilize Adobe Illustrator and other design software to create detailed layouts from concept drawings, draft construction profiles, and ensure artwork is ready for production. Experience with AI-powered photo editing tools is a must for creating polished and professional images.

• Attention to Detail: Apply excellence to every project, ensuring that all designs are thoroughly documented, have a well-balanced layout and intuitive to follow

• Problem Solving: Address design construction challenges effectively and provide creative solutions to meet both aesthetic and functional requirements of the signage

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proven experience as a Detail Specification and Layout Designer or in a similar design role, preferably in the signage or graphic design industry.

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and experience with AI-powered photo editing tools with Adobe Photoshop.

• Strong proficiency in Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop

• Strong understanding of design principles, including balance, proximity, alignment, repetition, contrast, and white space.

• Ability to visualize and understand 3D concepts to create 2D images.

• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and a passion for design perfection.

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects at once.

• Positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to a fun, family-focused work culture.

• 8 hour shift

• Overtime
