Valley City Sign seeks a full-time Sign Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the sign industry and be able to accurately estimate the cost of complex signage projects quickly and accurately. 

The successful candidate will have had 3 years of estimating experience, a keen understanding of how things are built, and the ability to transfer that knowledge to develop a thorough understanding of the materials, processes, techniques, and standards related to sign fabrication. We place a premium on a good attitude and willingness to learn. We will mentor and train the right candidate.

WHAT DO WE DO?
As a premier west Michigan-based sign company, we build all types of Signs! We use aluminum, steel, plastics, paints, and all substrates to create our products. Our customers include banks, car washes, municipalities, large corporations, hospitals, schools and universities, casinos, sports teams, and many local businesses. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Provide detailed scope of work documents that include a comprehensive list of materials, labor, and installation requirements 

• Providing accurate estimates of sign fabrication projects, including project materials, labor, overhead, and other associated costs 

• Work closely with purchasing, sign designers, fabricators, installers, and sales to ensure the most cost-effective solutions are provided 

• Analyze costs and requirements for signage projects and develop solutions

• Work with internal teams to ensure successful projects 

• Maintain up-to-date records and documentation

• Work with team members to ensure on-time completion of projects

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree or applicable experience 

• Background in engineering and a strong sense of how to build things

• 3+ years of experience in signage estimating is preferred or related field

• Excellent mathematical and problem-solving skills

• Critical Thinking with the ability to anticipation project scope challenges

• Good problem-solving skills

• Advance user of MS Excel for estimating

• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.

• Active Listening 

• Good communicator

• Attention to detail

• Good organizational skills

• Knowledge of hand tools 

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings 

• Ability to work independently and in a team
